Happy Chinese New Year!

The Chinese New Year (often referred to as Spring Festival) falls on February 3 this year and will be welcomed in many parts of the world. Chinese zodiac-wise, 2011 is the Year of the Rabbit.

In Mauritius, the festival is marked with a national public holiday. The dominant color during this festival is the red which is the symbol of happiness. The occasion will be celebrated with a strong sense of tradition with lots of food, firecrackers, parades and traditional events designed to sweep away the old year and welcome in a new one filled with good fortune.

Mauritius Chinatown in the heart of capital, Port-Louis is among the ten best destinations selected this year by the British travel agency cheapflights.uk to celebrate the Chinese New Year. During this festive season, lion and dragon dances to the sound of drums and cymbals are very popular in the streets of Port-Louis and other towns where the Chinese community is widespread. Chinese New Year cake, Nian Gao (known as ‘Gateau La Cire’) is commonly distributed.

The Business Point Co. Ltd takes this opportunity to wish all corporates, business partners and clients a happy and prosperous Chinese New Year. May the Year of the Rabbit bring you all happiness, good fortune and longevity!
